What’s Cookin’
Sharing a meal with family and friends comforts us; it strengthens connections and builds bridges across cultures, religions, and lifestyles. So when the Blanchard and Calhoun family of businesses thought about how best to support the United Way of the CSRA, one of their strategies involved food. In 2017, they published the Blanchard and Calhoun Family Cookbook, a collection of more than 200 crowd-pleasing recipes enjoyed by our agents, employees, and their families and friends across the generations.
In addition to President Tom Blanchard’s recipe for Old Faithful Pork Tenderloin, you’ll find Juanita Byrd’s Sunshine Salad, Whitney Civitarese’s Honey Butter Cornbread Muffins, Kim Klein’s traditional Korean Kalbi, Raven Walthour’s Bacon Wrapped Jalapeno Poppers, Franziska Valerius’ German Cheese Dip, Cheryl Collins’ Hobo Dinner, and Melissa Fulghum’s Million Dollar Pie.
That’s a whole lot of good eatin’. And the best part of it? All proceeds from the sale of the cookbook benefit our local United Way, which provides funding for more than 40 programs in a two-state area, making a difference in the lives of thousands of CSRA residents.
