These days, you’re more likely to see advertisements for Blanchard and Calhoun Real Estate Company, Blanchard and Calhoun Insurance Agency, and Augusta Mortgage on your television, computer, and the screen of your smartphone. But, there was a time when matchbooks, those tiny pocket billboards, reigned supreme. This #TBT, we’re throwing it all the way back to 1948, when John R. Hall, Jr. ran our insurance agency and passed out matchbooks all over town – to clients, prospective clients, business associates, and friends. The cover, featuring a line drawing of our former headquarters on Broad Street, touted 29 years in business. We’re reissuing this classic giveaway as part of our yearlong birthday celebration. And, while we’re certainly not encouraging you to take up smoking, how about using a pack of these nostalgic fire starters to finally light that pumpkin spice scented candle your BFF gave you last year for your birthday?
